She's a national coordinator for the Revolutionary Communist Party (Revcom) affiliated group Refuse Fascism. She also was or is the national coordinator for a group known as The World Can't Wait. Sweet was active in the anti-war movement in the 2010s. She was the American Humanist Association's Heroine of the Year in 2012. She seems to have been one of the organizers of a 2016 NYC solidarity rally with Flint, Michigan, a city whose Democrat government poisoned the water supply. In 2023, she held a fundraiser for the Revcom's bookstore, Revolution Books, where she volunteers.
