Perriello attended the Charlottesville counter protest. He later strongly condemned the rally in an article in Slate magazine. Perriello worked in the State Department for a time and ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2017. He's a former far-left Congressman who represented a western Virginia district that includes Charlottesville for one term in the late 2000s. Perriello voted with the Democratic majority 90% of the time and supported the DREAM Act which gave amnesty to illegal aliens. He did, however, oppose a ban on "assault weapons". As of 2021, he served as Executive Director for U.S. Programs at George Soros' Open Society Foundation. When he accepted the Soros job, he was introduced by the President of the Open Society Foundation who said, “Our institutions are under attack, the rule of law is being challenged as seldom before in our history, and the very foundations of our democracy are under enormous stress. These times demand bold leadership, new ideas, and sharp strategic thinking. In Tom, we have a promising partner to lead our work in the U.S. forward." He has a B.A. and a law degree from Yale. https://archive.vn/f66dz#selection-1059.276-1059.289 https://archive.vn/mqZvJ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Perriello https://www.facebook.com/TomPerriello/videos/im-at-the-national-school-walkout-protest-in-richmond-when-young-people-lead-we-/10156804557705400/
