During the protest I allegedly took and set fire to a confederate flag and was subsequently arrested. After getting knocked around and taken into custody, I was carted to the county seat, brought before a magistrate, and released, only to be immediately greeted by a group of fellow counter-protesters and supporters, including my dude @finn.de.semana who rolled out without prompting to meet me at the courthouse. The amount of support and solidarity demonstrated by these comrades has been unparalleled, and I am eternally grateful. It is important that we show the people on the other side that we will not stand for their idolatry of white supremacy, or their apologist views of Southern history. That flag and that statue have always been and always will be symbols of hate, oppression, and bigotry. Huge huge thanks to the Durham Solidarity Center for providing legal counsel for myself and others who were arrested today.
