Nicholas Lucia, 25, is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, weapons of mass destruction, aggravated arson, riot charges and recklessly endangering another person. According to the criminal complaint, the device Lucia is accused of throwing landed on the vest of a police officer. The device was then pulled off and thrown away by a nearby officer. As the device hit the ground, it exploded within approximately 15 feet from the officers. The explosion caused one officer to suffer concussion-like symptoms and later required medical treatment due to the explosion. According to the criminal complaint, the device had the potential to cause death or serious bodily injury.
