He's a member of the radical animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere (DxE). He's been a member for a few years and attended a protest at the Golden Gate horse racing track. He's part of the Legal Llamas which is DxE's legal advisory board. Abassi was DxE's member of the week in July 2022. Abassi moderated a workshop on how to navigate the legal system as an animal rights activist at an animal liberation conference in 2023. He started his Vegan career at age seven when he stood on a table during lunch hour and shouted at people for eating meat. As of 2022, he was studying law at UCSF and hopes to create a precedent to make animals "persons". He's the treasurer of the Iranian law student's Association.
