Notes

Catherine "Fern" Ann MacDougal (DOB: 06/23/87) is an environmental radical associated with the Radical Mountain People's Survival group, Rising Tide, Hands Off Appalachia and Earth First!. In 2009, she tied herself to a generator in South Carolina in an attempt to halt construction of a coal fired power plant. She was arrested in 2011 for occupying a tree at the Coal River Mountain coal mine. In 2013, she was arrested at a protest at UBS bank's headquarters. MacDougal pled guilty in 2014 for blocking the gates of a chemical plant during an Earth First! protest. In 2018, she was sentenced to only two days in jail for blocking the Mountain Valley pipeline in Virginia. Forest Service employees plucked her cherry, using a cherry picker to remove her from a tree. She's been arrested at least five times for crimes such as trespassing, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and entering property to damage. Judging by her Facebook account, she remains active in radical environmentalism to the day. MacDougal was a long-time West Virginia resident, but she moved to Berkeley in 2022, I suppose so she can be close to other radicals. She has a graduate degree from the University of Michigan. https://archive.ph/4ITs8 https://archive.ph/6B7KB https://archive.ph/7xISU https://archive.ph/92ujb https://archive.ph/NepRy
