She's a photographer for the radical animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) and has photographed numerous protests. She was arrested in 2020 in Richmond, Virginia for spraying pig sh*t on the lawn of a Smithfield Food's executive. She went on a 28-hour hunger strike while in jail. Deerbrook claims to be against all forms of oppression including racism, sexism, classism, ableism, speciesism, capitalism, white supremacy, transphobia, homophobia and rape culture.
