Crom is a radical animal rights activist who was arrested for burying piglets in the front yard of a food executive's home in Iowa in 2020. He was later arrested at another protest by Direct Action Everywhere which shut down a Bay Area horse racing track in 2021. The protest also temporarily closed a Chinese COVID testing site due to security concerns. Crom was later sued by the racetrack.
