Joseph Baldoni Karlik (DOB: 07/29/91) was part of a group that destroyed a Confederate monument in front of a Durham courthouse in 2017. The DA later dropped his charges. He was arrested again in 2018 at a Silent Sam statue protest on the UNC campus. He later organized a teaching assistant strike against the restoration of the damaged statue. Karlik was a grad student at UNC at the time of his arrests. He's a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Karlik majored in biology and physics at UNC-Chapel Hill. While at UNC, he was the leader of the workers union.
