She's a left-wing Democratic Oregon State Representative with social media ties to the Von Gilbert / Smith faction of Rose City Antifa. Although she ran as a Democrat, she's a member of the Working Families Party as well. Prior to running for public office, she worked for a variety of left-wing groups including: Labor/Community Strategy Center, Refugee Transitions, OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon and Oregon Just Transition Alliance. As a legislator, she claims to be a "fierce advocate for immigrant, refugee and working class families." She was one of the legislators who lead the push to expel a Republican state legislator in 2021.It was announced in late 2021 that Pham will lead the resettlement of Afghan refugees in Oregon. She received an Alice award from a Portland group in 2021. Perhaps she should have received a Karen award. Pham is Vietnamese and the daughter of refugees. She holds a B.A. from Clark University and an M.A. in urban studies from Portland State. Pham lives with her husband and kid in the Jade District in Southeast Portland.
