He advocated for the creation of a state office of immigrant and refugee advancement. He's also the Executive Director of Unite Oregon, an immigrant organization. Jama was previously a trainer of immigrant community leaders at the left-wing Western States Center. Jama signed an open May Day letter against hate and violence in 2021. He's a skinny originally from Somalia and the son of a camel herder. Jama has twins with his American baby mama.
