Gonzales, 20, was charged after investigators said he picked up two bricks from the tree landscaping then ran towards and hit the shooting victim, knocking him to the ground. Gonzales also participated in the riot as early as 9:26 p.m. when he was in the west lot of Erie City Hall and threw a smoke canister at officers, who were on the roof trying to disperse the crowd, investigators said. Charged with two counts of riot, failure of disorderly persons to disperse, obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.
