He's a minister who participated in the Charlottesville Unite the Right counter-protest. McNeal wrote in an article about his experience at the riot and said, "We must stand with immigrants and refugees. We must stand with Latinx and Asians. We must stand with the the LGBTQIA communities. We must stand with Black Lives Matter." He's the founder of United Faith Leaders. He was in the Army and left to enter the seminary. He's been affiliated with the Baptists and Presbyterians. McNeal attended Union College in New York and Union Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Virginia.
