Notes
Dae Shik Kim Hawkins, Jr., aka Dae Shik Kim, is a Seattle radical who was interviewed at CHAZ by the left-wing British tabloid the Guardian and said, “I think what we’re seeing in CHAZ is just a snippet of a reality that the people can have." He was described by the Guardian as one of the zone's organizers. In another interview in which he was called a "Rampant Radical" Kim said he tries to check his privilege as a cisgender male without a disability. He admitted in a third interview to participating in the illegal Standing Rock protests in 2016. Hawkins appears to have been a major participant in the 2019 "Sign War" in which supporters of two rivals for a Seattle City Council seat stole each other’s illegally placed signs. Hawkins's last known employment was as a Senior Producer for the left-wing VICE media outlet. He was presumably fired after VICE shut down operations in early 2024. Strangely, he used to write a relationship advice column with notable Seattle radical Nikkita Oliver for Seattle Weekly. He may be a furry, a person who dresses up as an animal for sexual gratification as his photo on his Medium page shows him in a pink bunny suit. Or it could have been a Halloween costume. His legal surname is probably Hawkins, but he usually goes by Dae Shik Kim. He's originally from Hawaii but now lives in Seattle. https://archive.ph/cYGM8#selection-1891.98-1891.113 https://archive.ph/XvgVP, https://archive.ph/xiLPE, https://archive.ph/bD4Jf https://www.linkedin.com/in/daeshikkimjr https://medium.com/@daedaejr
