Notes
Phillabaum is a radical environmentalist and Earth Liberation Front (ELF) member. She's a former Earth First! Journal editor, known for her role as the narrator of the underground documentary film "Breaking the Spell", which advocates property damage and examines the 1999 Seattle WTO riots from the perspective of anarchists in Eugene, OR. Phillabaum took part in a firebombing attack on the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture. The lab created genetically engineered poplar trees but also researched wetlands restoration and endangered plants, areas of study that should have met the eco-terrorists' approval. The U. of Washington said it would cost $7 mil. to rebuild the center. Phillabaum took a plea bargain and snitched on her co-conspirators in exchange for a lighter sentence. She was a champion high-school debater who majored in the extremely practical major of art history at the University of Oregon. Phillabaum lived in Spokane at the time of the arson but now lives in Phoenix, possibly with her parents and reportedly works as a paralegal.
