Notes

Rachel Lauren Schmelkin, née Rachel Silverstein, (DOB: 10/29/88) is a rabbi who participated, with several family members, in the counter-protest to the 2017 UTR rally. She was the assistant rabbi at Temple Beth Israel in Charlottesville at the time. Schmelkin described the rally as, "The most terrifying experience of my entire life." She claims to have devoted herself to making sure alt-right rallies never happen again. In 2022, she appeared on the Dr. Phil show where she talked about her experiences at Charlottesville. Schmelkin left her position as a rabbi to work for the One America Movement. She's married to Geoff Schmelkin who was also at UTR. The couple live in an apartment in Arlington. https://archive.ph/h1vkl https://archive.ph/YTJOK https://archive.ph/7oStA
