Smith wrote an article for the Galveston newspaper in 2018 claiming Trump was mentally unstable and must be stopped. He's an illegal immigration advocate and participated in a blockade of Houston's ICE office. He also protested at a memorial service for the victims of violence committed by illegal aliens that was attended by President Trump. Smith is a radical environmentalist who participated in a tree sitting protest against Massey Energy in 2010. It rained on him so he decided to surrender to the police waiting at the base of the tree. Smith's charges are unknown but most of the protesters were arrested for trespassing. The "action" took place in West Virginia but many of the protesters were from Pennsylvania which may be Smith's home state.
