The money laundering charge was due to a transfer of $48K to Siskiyou Mutual Aid in California in an attempt to hide assets. She was charged with charity fraud for using fund money for personal expenses. Georgia's governor issued a statement saying the criminals facilitated and encouraged domestic terrorism. Patterson faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $500K for money laundering. Patterson was the CFO of Autonomous News, Inc., a defunct organization which may have been an attempt to start another radical news site. Patterson has a B.A. in film and television and works as a writer and producer.
