Gonzalez was of the organizers of the Charlottesville counter-protest. He's also the founding member and chair of the Richmond DSA chapter. He's worked as a union organizer and is probably still involved in organizing. He was part of a 2021 DSA delegation to Venezuela and another one to Peru. He named his Twitter feed after the populist Roman politician Gaius Gracchus who was killed by the Senate. One can only hope Gonzalez' life takes a similar path. Rt. Rev. Shannon Sherwood Johnston (DOB: 10/20/58) was an organizer and leader of the clergy at the Unite the Right counter-protest. He was the Episcopalian bishop of Virginia at the time. This brings up the question, "What's the proper color of vestments to wear to a riot?". Black, I suppose. He apparently doesn't tolerate dissent very well. He co-authored a letter that said, "In our judgment, therefore, the Church cannot remain silent in the face of those who seek to foment division.” An Episcopalian bishop participating in a violent Antifa protest is not so surprising given that an Episcopal parish in Portland hosted a Antifa day camp known as "Budding Roses" several years ago. A sitting bishop probably isn't Antifa but the clergy at Charlottesville gave legitimacy to the violent counter-protest and at times were on the front lines. The good bishop got his chasuble up in a knot when several dioceses attempted to leave the Episcopal church in a dispute over gay marriage among other things. He's been convicted for identity theft and he was cited for failing to appear at a hearing. Jordan Christopher McNeish is a pothead who participated in the Charlottesville Unite the Right counter-protest. McNeish was arrested for spitting on rally organizer Jason Kessler in a park and was charged with disorderly conduct. McNeish was previously occupied with Occupy Charlottesville in the early 2010s. He seems to have had a substance abuse problem when he was younger with many drug and alcohol related arrests. McNeish probably dealt pot, he has an arrest for possession with intent to distribute. He also has arrests for trespassing, curfew violation, contempt, failure to appear, drinking while driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wesley "Wes" Jomont Bellamy (DOB: 03/04/86) attended the Charlottesville Unite the Right counter protest and spoke at a gathering at a Baptist Church. Bellamy spearheaded the movement to remove Lee's statue from a Charlottesville park which set off the 2017 violence. Jason Kessler led an effort to remove Bellamy from the City Council. In 2021, he was arrested at the U.S. Capitol in a voting rights protest. Bellamy has numerous degrees from HBCUs including business degrees from South Carolina State University and a PhD from Virginia State. He's the former Vice Mayor of Charlottesville. Bellamy was also Co-Chair of Our Black Party, a political party organized by P. Diddy. He wrote a book titled: "When White Supremacy Knocks, Fight Back! How White People Can Use Their Privilege, and How Black People Can Use Their Power". Perriello attended the Charlottesville counter protest. He later strongly condemned the rally in an article in Slate magazine. Perriello worked in the State Department for a time and ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2017. Tyler D. Magill (DOB: 06/01/71) attended the 2017 Charlottesville counter protest. He's the world's badest-assed librarian. He works in the University of Virginia library and received the American Library Association's equivalent of the Medal of Honor in 2019 for his actions in Charlottesville. He linked arms with other counter-protesters to protect the Jefferson statue on campus from "white supremacists" but it stretches credibility to believe the alt-right would want to tear down a Jefferson monument. According to the librarians he, "demonstrated his willingness and ability to face adversity and danger with resolve." Magill claims to have been injured at the rally and to have suffered a stroke several days later which is probably unrelated to the protest.
