Nicholas "Nic" Evan Smith (DOB: 12/22/95) was allegedly one of the organizers of the Unite the Right counter protest. He's a waiter at Waffle House and a Democratic Socialist who is well known in the "Fight for $15" movement. In May of 2018, he was a guest speaker at the Poor People's Campaign 40 Days of Action rally in Washington, DC. At UTR, he threw coffee on an alt-right marcher and then punched the man, knocking him down although he was never charged for his crime (maybe he was just throwing out stale Waffle House coffee?). Smith was interviewed at UTR by left-wing journalist Peter Moskowitz and said, "Passive resistance does not work. You have to resist and oppose it.” He also said the left's actions at UTR were just the "tip of the iceberg" and that "bigger things are coming". Schmidt was one of the organizers of the violent counter-protest to the Unite the Right rally. She was also one of the organizers of Charlottesville's BLM group and was called out by Jason Kessler prior to the rally. Schmidt even brought her own security detail to the riot.
