City University of New York (CUNY) refused to fire Linsker, instead reassigning him for a semester. The next semester he was back in the classroom. Linsker plead guilty to a felony charge of Assault in the Second Degree and misdemeanor charges that included resisting arrest and criminal possession of a weapon. He underwent mental-health treatment, and was allowed to withdraw the assault plea and was sentenced to three years’ probation on the five misdemeanor counts to which he pleaded guilty. As of 2021, Linsker works as a psychotherapist in Brooklyn despite the fact that his degrees are in the arts (he taught writing at CUNY).
