McNeish was arrested for spitting on rally organizer Jason Kessler in a park and was charged with disorderly conduct. McNeish was previously occupied with Occupy Charlottesville in the early 2010s. Bellamy spearheaded the movement to remove Lee's statue from a Charlottesville park which set off the 2017 violence. Jason Kessler led an effort to remove Bellamy from the City Council. In 2021, he was arrested at the U.S. Capitol in a voting rights protest. Bellamy has numerous degrees from HBCUs including business degrees from South Carolina State University and a PhD from Virginia State. He's the former Vice Mayor of Charlottesville.
